For example, when you stumble, fall andnothing bad happens, do you think that maybe on another plane you stumbled, fell hit your head and died or suffered a more severe injury. Alternatively, do you ever feel that perhaps things worked out for the better?

It's that old question, what if...? again. What if the Titanic never sank? What if JFK was never shot? What if Germany won the Second World War? I like to think there are a number of alternative realities out there somewhere, where these events did happen. Whenever you say yes, in this reality, you're saying no in another, perhaps changing events in your life and those around you for the better, or for the worse. Who can say? It's the old Sliding Doors scenario....

This is called Karma.
But in Buddhism, it is usually believed that how you live your life at present will affect you in the afterlife. It's a cycle.
I do believe that there's a greater force above us at work & that life has a mysterious way of working its way.
Like the saying goes, "every action has an equal & opposite reaction."

Wow. no.

I feel adrenaline and imagine "what could happen IF I don't X"
I do X and avoid that possible outcome.
But the imagination is so vivid in that crisis..
it may seem quite real.

interesting.
