Why did they end in a tie of 0-0 and not go into OT or have a shoot-out?

as it is a group game and a team doesnt have to advance from it like the later knock out stages

In the group stages, there can be ties. Once teams are in the final 16 than there's over time and maybe penalty kicks if needed. Great game, good hustle by the Trini goalie!

There is no OT in the first round of the World Cup, only in the "knockout round."

Because we are at the group stages.Extra time and penalty shootouts will come in at the knockout stages of the tournament.
