It depends. Usually, you can hear the heartbeat around the beginning of the second trimester, or about 12 weeks. However, sometimes it takes a little longer due to the position of the baby in the uterus, or if the mother has excess belly fat.

The baby has a heart that works at 15 days, which doctors call 4 weeks (that's another story). You can't really hear it until the baby is about 8 weeks which the docs will call 10 weeks. Some women have been know to go as long as 15 weeks (docs terms) before hearing the heartbeat.

i heard my babys heart beat at 12 weeks i was so happy this is my first baby, i just felt the baby move the other day im 18 weeks now

I was 13 weeks, but that was because that was my first doctors appointment! But I think the most exciting part is seeing your baby in an ultrasound and finding out what it is. I found out a week ago that I am having a boy, and I am 23 weeks pregnant. The whole pregnancy experience is neat, at least I think so!!

I had a sonogram at about 5 weeks and I heard my baby's heartbeat. You can hear it with a doppler or ultrasound at 4 weeks. I don't care what these retards claim.

I was 11 weeks when i heard my baby's heart. It took the doc a min to find it, but it was there. It is a very overwhelming milestone. I cried when I heard it.

15 weeks I just heard mine yesterday. Only 2 seconds of it but heard it! Baby was moving all over the place!!

I heard mine kids' heartbeats at 11 and 12 weeks respectively. It was faint, but I heard them.

I heard at 10 weeks with an internal wand sonogram/ultra sound machine for early preg. It was wonderful!!!!!
