Why do you feel "intimidated" by this person? Are they intimidating you? Or do you feel inadequate in some way and you "feel" intimidated? There is a difference.

Get past your own insecurities first, then you can open up and have a natural conversation.

However, if this person is the intimidating type, best to move on.

Go up to them with someone who is very charismatic and isn't intimidated by them and then after a conversation is going have that person slip away. (It'd have to be planned ahead of time.)

Ask them to do you a personal favor, if they do then you are in their debt. It's weird but sometimes this is the best way to get folks to notice you.
