It could be that you need to take a test in the AM.

I always drank clear fluid the night before and if I got up to pee, I drank more fluid. Then I took the test first thing in the AM. This way if you do have the hormone in your system, it has time to get into your urine.

You might want to get a two pack test kit too, especially if you are trying for pregnancy, this way you can have a back up.

I would say definately test again in the AM if your period still doesn't come. If you still get a negative, wait a week then test again. If you still don't get a period, call your doc, maybe something else is going on.

Bleeding one week before your period is due is usually implantation bleeding. However, it *could* also be ovulation bleeding if you haven't been checking your basal body temperature to be *certain* when you ovulated.

Keep in mind that stress can delay ovulation. Your period is always on time (about 2 weeks after ovulation). So it would have had to be stress 2-3 weeks *before* your period is due.

Pregnancy tests are only *highly* accurate if you wait until a week past the first day of your missed period. They are also most accurate if you use the first morning urine.

Good luck!!

didn't read other posters answers but I would consider it "mid cycle bleeding" I have thought I was having implantation spotting so many times and it never was, doc says its always mid cycle bleeding. Plus with a 36 day cycle I think it would make more sense. Implantation spotting rarely occurs and if and when it does it occurs the SAME time as your af is supposed to show up. JMO
