How much electicity will I save by sweating it out and leaving my central air at 78 instead of a comfortable 72?

78 is definitely to high unless you live in Arizona where i kept mine at 80 most of the time. I read an article that said for every degree you turn your thermostat down it increases your bill 7%. We live in the Midwest and keep it at 72.

Yes, it will be cheaper because it won't have to work as hard. If 78 is too hot, try 75 or something. That will save too. Just keeping it TOO much cooler than it is outside is what burns up the energy. Also make sure your filters are clean, that burns pointless energy too.

Just put it at 72. You aren't going to save enough to make it worth it, and in my book, no amount of money warrants my being uncomfortable.

might not be cheaper, but 72 is waaay more comfy. you only live once, make it a comfortable life
