ABSOLUTELY NOT. Many houses I have been to feature magazines on top of the tank. And in many catalogues, they sell toilet paper holders/ magazine racks. Thirdly, there are many joke books made especially for the toilet. Even more, there is joke toilet paper that's got stuff to read.

No, you aren't the only one. My boyfriend does this religiously! I guess it helps him concentrate and once he gets involved in an article, he'll sit in there like Forever!!!

my brother does that all the time....when he was in college he actually had about 5 or 6 of those uncle john bathroom books stacked on the back of the toilet

No you are not the only one. I have heard lot from friends. And it is not freeky thing. It is normal. When you don't like it, don't take any books with you. Then you won't be left altime inside your toilet.
