Sucking the tongue of your partner is merely an extension of the French kiss and while French kissing is accepted as a form of affection in almost all dating circles. Could be that a new fad or style is something that feels different and while it sounds disgusting gives you that tingly feeling elsewhere. It doesn't matter how you make an act sound with words when physically practiced most touching of the human body is erotic. Obviously you have not participated in this type of kissing or you would not have asked the question.

Because they think they're being amazing at French kissing, but they are actually wrong at doing it.
All that matters for a good french kiss is to kiss gradually the lips and then go inside the mouth without making it weird or annoying for the partner.Which means basically that you don't have to over touch the tongue of your partner but to stroke it gently and then kiss back the lips and stop.And start again obviously.
It shouldn't be too long, and what matters as much as the kiss are the arms and the way you hold the one you love, that makes the difference.
None of the two people should ever think that's it's too long or too short, too fast or too slow.
One last thing: try not to imitate cinema kisses as most of them are rubbish!It looks nice to watch but if you try to do the same you can expect a failure, these people you're talking about are not feeling comfortable and try to do something they saw that looked nice but they're not being natural.

It simulates the sex act. It used to be that the female always sucked the males tongue. Now, some females think that it represents an equality thing, so they insist on doing the sucking. Or, they compromise by making sucking sounds on their partners lips without allowing the males tongue into their mouth. It's sort of asexual.
