First periods are not much usually and it can take some time for you to get full periods and be regular about them.

I think that once your period begins, you can become pregnant - though since the blood that is lost during your period is the blood lining of the uterus that cushions the baby, I don't think that you could carry a baby (with only a small amount of fluid, it would not be enough to nurture and develop a baby properly).

I think it is a very exciting time in a young woman's life though - and in my we have a little ritual to mark the passage from childhood to young womanhood. Remember though that the human animal really needs until the age of about 30 to fully mature (physically, mentally, socially, etc.) .

Count it as your period, usually the first time a girl cycles the blood or menstrual fluid is a dark brown because the uterus held this uterine lining longer then it normally would (because of the lower level of hormones in a girls system when she first begins menstration). Yes you can now get pregnant, even though your periods may be infrequent over the next few years, you still produce the uterine lining that would act as the site of fertilization and home for a zygote, and later a fetus.

Welcome to woman hood, its miserable sometimes, and extremely uncomfortable and ill timed others, but it is so much more fun to be a girl then a boy,...lol atleast in my opinion,...hehehe

That happened to me on my first period but I was irregular. You won't have a scedule til ur body adjusts to it. Just count this one ur period. It usually lasts 3-4 days, but if ur like me or irregular it might be longer. My first was a week and a half. Usually mine last a week now. U shouldn't go swimming unless u wear a tampon. Just wiat til next month, if this was the starting of ur period then you'll get it next month.
