Then there's the grueling hockey exam... Not to mention the practical on curling, lol.

I am in the exact same situation. My boyfriend is moving here (to Canada from the US) and as far as I can understand it takes a long time before he can even apply to become a Canadian citizen, 3 years I think. I have found some information that suggests if you have a certain skill, you can get a skilled worker visa. If not, then I have no idea how he can get a visa and be able to work here in Canada right away. Take a look at this website... www.immigration.ca
Good luck.

I can't comment on how hard it's going to be because I am Canadian but have lived, by choice, in the US now for 20 years. And I wouldn't go back, even a gunpoint. Why on earth does he want to live up there?
First, unless he's going to Vancouver, which is gorgeous on sunny days, he's going to freeze his @ss off anywhere else and pay taxes up the whazzoo for everything. There's just no sane reason to want to be there! Plus, everyone, and I do mean everyone, smokes like a chimney up there - it's disgusting. He's nuts - let him go and stay here!

If he has a job there, no problem ... I think that a lot of us are considering moving to Canada! The US ain't what it used to be, is it? If he is going to look for a job, will be a big problem.

Canada is a great county he will love it and it is not hard, he has to become an immigration first and live here for 3 years and then write an exam... that is it...
