Not really, because they would both operate on radio waves, and all radio waves travel at the same speed, the speed of light. If you get a sensitive radar detector, it is still usually good for line-of-sight detection, because radar doesn't go around corners.

Bottom line: start out sooner and drive slower. You'll save so much more in terms of speeding tickets and insurance surcharges, that you will be able to afford the extra time!
