there is actually a black hole... that opens when you close the dryer door.. so while you cannot see it , this vortex is opening up and swallowing the other sock... the hole is small so only one sock can fit through at a time and the hole is unstable so it does not stay open for long.... so never climb into the dryer ...lol...

Underpants gnomes sometimes are unable to find the amount of underpants needed to fill their quota. If this occurs they can use socks to make up the extra numbers, the only problem is each sock only counts as half a point and has to be unique (don't ask me I didn't make up the rules).

Which as an unintended consequence causes these gnomes to only be motivated to take one sock or the other.

I know that when I do laundry at a landramat occasionly errant socks that I've never seen have found their way into my dryer. The socks are just used to be on the move and must wander around when we aren't looking. They are made for walking after all.;-)

Our socks get eaten by the washing machine. You can have ALL pairs matched before you put them in the wash, and then, miraculously, one has disappeared. When this has happened to me, I usu sally spend hours trying to look for it, only it's never there. I don't understand it. I just go out and but more socks. Oh well. *sighs*
