I sure hope that this article is right. Even if it is not, people must consider that there aree innocent people killed in a war, it is unfortunate but true.

But worse, I am tired of people condemning Americans, when civilians die, Americans are there and see there friends wounded and killed.

I have seen no one keep a running total of innocent civilians killed by terrorists who plant bombs and suicide bombers. They obviously do not consider the life sacred.

I think it is possible that anyone facing the enormous pressures of war/peacekeeping in a such a dangerous, often hostile environment like Iraq could simply "lose it"- there are sad, similar stories of soldiers (of all races, religions, nationalities and backgrounds) who have commited such acts in almost every war. Who really knows how any of us would react under similar circumstances and thank you to all the military personal protecting the USA and trying to create a better homeland for the Iraqi (and Afghani) people. Unlike other places and despite what so many want to say, Americans hold themselves to a high moral standard as evidenced by the simple fact that we have rules and laws for treating civilians, prisoners and, even suspected terrorists during war; this is proven by the very fact this event in Haditha is even an issue. The US also allows journalists from all nationalites to observe their actions and makes no effort to restrict (within reason of compromising troop safety during battle) coverage; and unlike other places we do not restrict what is reported or try to control the "spin" for political purpose. Although it would be laughable to expect the same from the terrorists in Iraq, the USA goes so far as to give our enemies rights. I don't think that the Marines accused of murdering the suspected terrorist in Haditha have been tried by the press (at least not the American press), only it was recorded that a tragic event took place where, possibly, a few Marines did, in fact, take justice into their own hands. If a murder did actually occur, that is for a court to decide and to decide what an appropriate punishment would be; the Marines will have a fair trial and the truth, at that point, will come out. That is what is great about the US and is exactly the reason- trying to create a free and open country-the Marines (and all our armed forces) are in Iraq to begin with.

I'm sure some are because no matter what there are bad seeds everywhere doing everything, but I also think that innocent civilians sometimes get caught in the crossfire and although it's tragic, it's inevitable that it happens in war.

YUP! YUP! YUP! Don't kill civilians. Only an idiot like Hitler who thinks that civilians are also enemies during wars.
