They don't make a 250 (220) volt hairdryer for regular use. 220 volt is the same wire that's used for clothes dryers or electric stoves.

You can try, but you might be pushing your luck a bit with the mains designed for 230-240volts.... was originally 240volts, but the Health&Safety busybodies from the EU decided it should be detuned to 230volts so it doesn't hurt as much if we electrocute ourselves.
You can probably pick-up one designed for use in the UK for next to bugger-all money these days anyway (like £15 - £19.99)

believe it or not we, as a nation do have hairdryers and if the worse came to the worse you could go to ARGOS and buy a cheap travel one for under a tener (10 Pounds)

It will, but it won't be nearly as powerful....and you'll probably blow the circuit breaker every 2 minutes.
