The Roaring 20's - this is the age of the flapper. Basically a straight knee length dress usually sleeve less. Dancing the Charleston was popular and dresses often had hanging beads that moved. Around the neck long bead strands usually pearls. Women wore bobbed hair, long gloves, feather boas, and head bands that are similar to a crown across the forehead. Check out old gangster movies for inspiration. This is the prohibition period.

There were lots of different styles, like there are nowdays, but the one everyone always recognises is flapper. Try to wear a short, sleeveless, unfitted (straight up and down) dress, any colour you like, with stockings, lowish heels in the same colour of the dress, and wear a headband, again in the same colour, with a feather stuck in it if possible. Good thrift stores should stock the kind of dress you want.
Accessories - long beads matching your outfit are a must, again, they're dirt cheap from thrift stores (charity shops in the UK), and a clutch will do great.
Hope that helps!

Flappers were all the rage! If you're a female take a dress & add some fringe in layers, also an old fashioned hat (real close to the head like a swimming cap), add some flowers & voila...you're a flapper. Men were wearing zoot suits.. big lapels & the pants tapered down like a pencil. Of course a hat with a big brim was a must.

The 1920's were also known as the "Roaring 20's." It was a time when fashion started to stray from the formal wear of the 1800's.

You want to dress like Betty Boop. Above the knee or at the knee dresses, dropped waist (the skirts were attached to the bodice at the hip line), fabrics cut at the bias.

Do you have a tunic? You could probably wear a tunic over a short skirt.

Go to a thrift store and look for flapper like clothes. Short dresses and little hats. Beading and layers are good.
