There are going to be all kinds of people on here trying to convince you that it's not for carpet. Don't listen to them you just have to know what your doing. Take the pad off and underneath you will see the carpet comb (kind of looks like Velcro type stuff) use that and you should be set.

I thought it was for tile floors (never had one)..otherwise, don't press down so hard

It's for use on hardwood/tile/vinyl/carpetless floors.
