What is the nature of existence? Our Reason for being? The mechanism of how we come to exist?

I love that every person has their own belief, their own mythology. Even people who subscribe to the same belief system, interpret the belief in their own personal way. Every experience of life is a unique experience. There isn't one true way, there are 6,568,357,909 billion true ways according to http://www.worldometers.info/ So what do YOU believe to be true.

Please don't make any reference to scripture. Scripture is an accounting of someone elses inspired belief. I want to know your inspired belief. The belief which is uniquely your own.

If you are curious about what I believe, you can check here: http://jdoggiedogg.livejournal.com/52680.html

Answering Eric T, every belief is right and true for the person who believes it. It is a part of their path that they must believe what they believe. At least, that is what I believe and you might believe that my belief is wrong, because that's what your path requires you to believe

This question has helped me to understand my own beliefs, and I hope it has helped the answerers to better understand their beliefs.

I've decided to let this question go to a vote. It doesn't seem right for me to declare any person's belief as better than anyone elses. Thank you for all the wonderful answers

Like you I have thought about this all my adult life-and part of my life as a young boy too, (I am 47 now) and I read a lot, and have been involved in many fields in life. Currently I am a writer and, frankly, the amount of inputs are so varied and great and probably assimilating and coming up with a reasonable answer seems beyond me, (My IQ is just 132)
So I have temporarily decided to depend on the Bhagwat Gita, (if and until I find better inputs) with my own ideas about certain sections. This book by itself has so many interpretations, I have decided to stick with one version.

Since you've asked for it, check the Source link below to the on-line edition. It's a long read and has an even longer interpretation. The basic backbone of my thinking is the same, but there are certain sections that I beg to differ, especially with regards to the a person doing his duty badly, rather than someone else's expertly, or that people are good all the time. I do believe that even the worst killer, mass murderer has more good than evil in them, but even very good people, even saints do make mistakes, history is full of such examples.

My own thinking about humanity and myself-
Lets look at things this way - I am a citizen of the three physical dimensional (plus the fourth dimension being time) cosmos which itself may be one cosmos in the multitude of multiple dimensional cosmos (plural).

My cosmos contains my universe which contains my local cluster of galaxies which contains the Milky Way Galaxy (My Galaxy), on one the outer periphery of one of my galaxy's spiral arms is Sol (my star) which contains my planet earth which contains the continent of Asia which contains my country India which contains Karnataka - the state in which I currently reside in, which contains my city of residence Bangalore which contains the suburb I live in, which contains the street I live on, which contains my house.

My universe is estimated to be around 10-15 billion years, old, my star -Sol or Sun a middle aged second generation 5 billion year star, life on my planet is estimated to have evolved around 3-4 billion years ago, my species around 2-4 million years ago and I'll consider myself fortunate if I live even for one-tenth of a millennium.

On a cosmic scale, even my galaxy may appear as just a blemish and may be unnoticeable in the fabric of space, and I would not even be the size of a speck- but - the ripple that I (any human) could cause in the still waters (the cosmos) could change the course of history, of space of existence/s. So why should I limit myself to a country or a race or a caste or a religion or a continent or a creed (narration intentionally not in order)? As I said - I am a citizen of the cosmos, or a multitude of cosmos (plural)

There can never be anyone else like me at this point in space in this given instant of time ever. I am unique (and so is every other creature, every thing right down to every sub-atomic particle!)

Though long winded and very unclear, I hope this helps.

Well to be perfectly honest, I really don't know!
I just am.
You don't want scripture and that is how I learned to believe what I believe, or at least that is where it all began.
I exist because God wants me to. I face all I face because I have to. I have to because I am what I am.
The mechanism from which we all came to be, is a belief stemming from the scriptures again. It provides answers to these questions, and if you are receiving from God then you just believe it to be true, simply because He said it is. It is not blind faith on my part, I have felt His way of conveying to me the truth of the scriptures as I read them. I just knew it to be the right way of it all, and I really can't explain what it is that puts the firm feeling of rightness into my way of believing in these things.
The reason for our being here is again from the scripture, and if it is not the reason, then, heck I can't think of a better one to be examined and finally believed.
The coincidnences of this earths being able to support our life, the human body, and how it reproduces, are truly a wonderous and ingenious work to behold. It cannot be a random act of evolution. The way I see the evolution working on this world today is in a backward mode, things disappearing, and nothing better adapted replacing it. So I don't buy the evolution theory at all.
But I used the word theory and that is what a belief starts out to be, a theory. Then it is examined and disected, and evaluated, till it is said to be a probablity and then it is turned over and the people choose if it is a real belief or a lie.
I think we are too seriously involved in our own selves most of the time. If you try too hard to achieve something, you may achieve it but it will be a hollow achievement. So to achieve the serenity that comes with a belief in your Maker and your reason for being, relax and let God come in and tell you what is the one and only way for YOUR life to be lived, in the way to best be in His good graces. When you have this belief you are seen in the eyes of the world to be a a happy and calm person, who is not afraid of death. Nor are you afraid of living your life. You just do the very best you can, because you know that God has got your back, and He will handle the stuff you just do not have the strength to handle.

I think you don't have any real claim to knowing that a person's inspired belief is X or Y. So if a person believes in an organised religion like being:

MUSLIM
JEWISH
CHRISTIAN
HINDU
BUDDHIST

You really can't say that they are not "uniquely inspired". That really is a load.

Furthermore, your question preconceives the notion that everyone is as egotistical in their cosmology as you are. Not all people, cultures or nations hold the "individual" as so almighty.

Human thought is perhaps not so important. I do not pretend to know. But I do think that if people believe in a way of life that actually refers to some ancient text or scripture, that you are most certainly wrong in thinking that their can not be 6 568 357 99
billion perspectives on this minus all of us who do not believe in one of these religions.

Your own unique beliefs were not your invention. They have come from the outside world, the history of your interaction with it and a multitude of ideas that were realised prior to you take on things.

All of us may experience the world in our own way but we also share our experiences too. Proving this is another story.

Weaher you realise it or not, whatever you believe has come from elsewhere and your claim to the uniqeness of it is simply because you do not have it all referenced or in a bibliography. If you would have kept track of all your views and where you came accross everything you wpould end up with your twist on all those ideas. I don't see the importance of this unless of course it helps people or makes our struggle here better. If there is no practically social way to apply these thoughts than it is simply selfish intellectual masturbation.

Than again what do I know. Cool question man.

Being Native American and have personally experienced a "death experience" I have found that God is the essence of all life, both seen and unseen. I believe the breath of God's love is inherent in all things. Therefore, I respect the life and paths of ALL.

I believe in an existance of life after physical death, as to say there is no death ... only change.

I perveive messages in nature that help me through my life, such as: Violets mean to appreciate the little things in life.

After the death experience, I believed what I had experienced and all that I saw. - Not the Heaven some speak of and not the Hell that one is fearful of. Rather, a place where spirits dwell.

I moved on to psychic channeling and believe without a doubt that there is an intellect much greater than my own who has imparted good, sound advice per my intention of knowing. Call it a Guardian Angel, if you will.

I also read the bible with more of an open mind than others had who have tried to teach it to me, which leads me to my own interpritations of the Scripture.

Believe me, it has been a path of solitude where two faiths or beliefs collide. But on my own, I have made sence of it all and strive to live up to the wisdom I have found.

frequency....

our minds are antennas for receiving frequency

you never think the same way twice

we are but host to receive a signal

we are the only animal that does not know what to do on earth

we are the only animal that is suicidal & self destructive

we are the only animal to question death, instead of enjoying life

we make up our purpose & meaning of life through society since we have no true purpose of being here at all.

the world will be perfect if we were not here, the animals will keep the chain of life going around & round

what i belive?

we were not meant to be on this world, maybe an accident

i just enjoy what i can while i am here, i have morals & purpose
in that i try to "do the right thing" as a human

i belive in goodness & badness & the fact that they are frequencys also.

i belive if you are good become part of the good frequency when you die & part of the bad if you are bad... its a cycle untill there are no more "receivers" or the frequencys of the universe die off.

hope this helps.

I agree .. everyone does or at least should have their own individual belief... at least it shows that you do not accept everything that man made / has written at face value... that you can think for yourself and determine what makes sense- for you... I believe that nature itself is glorious..... every creature, every plant , tree, star etc... is unique and special... I believe we each serve some purpose here... and are meant to learn things as well as to teach things to each other...we may not be privy to the exact reason.. but there is a reason...it may be the smallest thing such as greeting some stranger on a street... that perhaps is depressed yet your smile and greeting made their day... or something as sad as a child dying, that teaches everyone that knows and loves them or even hears it in the news ... that they should appreciate life and people more... since you never know when you will lose someone dear.... I believe we have all lived before and will live again if needed .. to learn more and teach more..that many people in our lives were destined to be in our lives.. some for short periods and others for longer periods.... I believe our bodies are merely shells that our spirits inhabit to move around in a physical sense in this world , shells that we ourselves have chosen for different reasons...I believe people born with disabilities have chosen those bodies and minds to teach others and learn very special lessons that they are very brave spirits to subject themselves to that type of lifetime... and I could go on and on... lol... but these are my basic beliefs... best wishes!

We must all have a source for our beliefs---a starting reference point because there is no new or original knowledge except that which come from God. As Solomon said in the Book of Ecclesiastes: "there is no new thing under the sun. See, it is of old time, which was before us." I believe in God's word., the Bible, because I have seen its truth demonstrated time after time. It is not wrong to draw off the inspirations of others.

I believe that as energy cannot be created or destroyed so never can I be. I came from the earth and will return to it. I think that the paigans were about as close as anyone to knowing that sacrifice to the ground would result in a better harvest and that's about as good as it gets. There is energy all around us and some is negative and some is possitive, how we are influenced by these energies is ours to decide. I think the bible is a bunch of woohaa and all those you are stuck in it will live a life of constant morning for their own lives. I didn't read what you believe but thanks for giving me the opportunity to express mine, no matter how much sense it makes. Best wishes

I believe that we are here for a purpose but most of us don't know what it is because we see suffering and some of us suffer too. Some of us die young and senselessly. Some of us live long lives but didn't accomplish much. Some are great men who contribute much to the advancement of mankind. Those who suffer will question why God put us here, does he enjoy seeing us suffer? Does God just want us to procreate like what the animals are doing and that is our sole purpose in life? Whatever it is, I believe we should just live our lives as best we can, do the best for mankind in our little ways and die with no regrets.

i believe there is a reason to existence. we started as tiny little organisms, or cells according to the theory of evolution. these tiny cells would become the modern human billions of years later. perhaps humans will grow bigger by about the same scale from a tiny cell to a human in billions of years from now. my final conclusion is that we are not doomed, we were not born just so that we may die, the universe was not created just so that it would collapse. there is a better reason, a cause which our brain is too small to understand or find impossible to believe at this stage of our evolution. there is one think i know for sure, either we are gods or we make up at least half of him.
