The answer scarily enough is that yes, China is taking over as the true superpower. We recently borrowed 300 Million from China which will never be paid back, and we will be indebted to China forever. What does this do? It limits what our military can do in the future. Say if China wants to attack a certain country, and the United States does not want that to happen. The United States can do nothing about it, because China will recall the loan which will put America in a serious financial pain. Bottom line Bush and the Republican Congress and Senate let us down yet again.

1. Chinas growth is dependent on the US market. Some say that they can not overtake the source.
2. Multinationals go for two reasons, 1. exploit the cheap labor and minimal worker protections to manufacture goods to be sold abroad. 2. Sell goods to the market of billions. Unfortunately most of the population doesn't have much money to spend. There is a small (perhaps larger than the US) elite class that buys luxury goods but the middle class is new to nonexistent. They can try to lower prices and make up in quantity but it seems that the price of foriegn/ even quality goods is the same as NY prices (to note, Nike's made in China are a foriegn goods because they are owned by outside corporations). I see clothes for 900 yuan or more when most only make 500 yuan a month. These stores are empty and you go to the underground market and it's packed.

Chinas growth is all GDP and these profits go to internationals who own the companies located in China. Minus the govt fees and kickbacks. Some growth for China itself but not as much as may appear on paper.

It's a new and emerging (huge) market--so it will provide wonderful opportunities. China, like India is heavily invested in the United States. It certainly has helped fund the hyperinflated housing market in the US. I wouldn't be concerned about the USA being "taken over" as an economic superpower. That won't happen anytime soon.

Nope.
Too many of the US corporations have extremely strong European AND Asian ties, brotherhoods, stockholders, mergers, etc.
The "white" corporate universe has been heavily "seeded" for 100s of years, even following them into the onset of the establishment of the United States. Too many connections. A lot of money. Enough to "buy" politicians and leaders.
The corporations seem to be spread around the world when in reality they are heavily connected to one another and support each other.
Without the complete "free enterprise" of the long time established US/UK (Including the Canadian-Aust/NZ part of the UK) and European countries in business, China will only out power them by shear numbers of people.
And even then the Chinese will want what the rest of the world has, and the US/UK and European businesses will provide that.

Look into it....everything that says "Made in China" is probably owned, at least mostly, by a European or US/UK corporation.

No they arent taking over. They already HAVE my friend. Personally I believe the 2008 Olympics will be where China finally comes out of its "hibernation". The only thing I take real comfort in is that they SEEM to be somewhat loosening their grip on their society. Maybe they did learn something from Tiannamen Square after all.

i think it depends on the youth and the future generation because china is educating their youth really well because my school visited them and america isnt doing really great with the youth so the future is in their hands seriously so if nothing improves then china may be the superpower but it wont stay because its communist and will eventually corrupt and fail

china has cheap labor and no environmental restrictions no they will not take over as the biggest super power unless they give their people more freedom and we elect people like Hillary Clinton we can only take so many democrats in the white house before we become a second rate super power.
