I always respect people who will stand up for their beliefs. Especially if what they believe is unpopular and they know that speaking up will make their lives more difficult. That is a difficult and brave thing to do.

K-9, you and Murtha have done all you can constructively do for mankind. It's time the both of you saddled up and hit that long lonely trail into the sunset. You know, like old soldiers in the ballad. They don't die, they just fade away. So long old friend. Don't let the door hit you in the as*s, on the way out.

K9, support the new draft bill (HR 4752 IH). It's the only way these little armchair generals and neo-con puppets that can't think for themselves will wake the hell up. Until then, little rich kid AWOLers and draft dodgers (note, Clinton was never drafted and therefore not a "draft dodger" for all those that love trivia) that make up our current administration will be able to drum up all the support they want among those that won't go to fight.
If the 38,000 recruiting shortfall gets mixed with this new Iran war, we will see a draft. We will also see these snot-nosed middle-class nintendo players get to put their blood where their mouth is. Both sexes, all people 18 to 42 will be registered...I can't wait.

I respect Mr. Murtha for his service. I am beginning to believe that he is now mentally aberrant. He pronounces people guilty before investigations are complete, let alone tried. He seems to have appointed himself the judge, jury, and executioner for the US Military. Not strictly performing in accordance with the principals of the US Constitution, let alone the Manual for Courts-Martial or the Uniformed Code of Military Justice, are you Mr. Congressman?

I'm retired Army, been to Iraq 3 times. I'd tell the POS what I think of him in a heartbeat. Yes, he would be changing his Depends...
"Just Will" is another lying liberal POS links below debunk his contention of the military being 38,000 personnel short, and the US House of Representative website has no record of a HR 4752. Another example of scare tactics and lies used by a party that continues to lose...

I do not respect those who give aid and comfort to the enemy, while our brave boys and girls are fighting for their lives and ours. So, the answer is NO, I have no respect for that piece of garbage who has already declared our Marines guilty of attrocities in Haditha before any trial or full investigation!!!! Traitor!!!!

Being a brave and decorated serviceman does not automatically qualify him for being an intelligent and wise politician.
The way he has condemned people pre trial is very concerning, and a violation of their constitutional rights.
