At present, the 1970 Brazilian team is thought of as the best. So far, I have seen nothing of this 2006 team to show they are as good as that one, but they certainly have the potential to be.

Not at all in fact here is a list of teams who are much better than the current Brazil team on any given day.
Italy ( 1934 - 1938) 1st team to win two World cups & an olympic gold in 1936.
Hungary (1954) - No need to elaborate stats speak . 1st team to beat England in English soil 6-3! In WC 26 goals in 6 matches !eat West Germany 8-3 & Brazil 4-2! Ferenc Puscas in his prime.
England (1966) - Wingless Wonders . A generation of supremely talented englishmen, Banks, Stiles, Moore, Hurst, Charltons
Brazil ( 1970 ) It will take a lot to be better than this team . Pele, Alberto, Jairzinho, Falcao. The greatest team ever to play football.
Holland ( 1974 ) - Peraps along with Hungary the greatest team not to win. This team changed the face of the game with total football. Put in Cryuff, Neeskens, Rep & REsenbrink u have legendary stuff.
West Germany ( 1974 ) - The greatest german side ever. They managed to beat the Dutch in the Final. Beckenbaur led from the front. PLus Meyer, Breitner, Muller, Vogts.
Argentina ( 1986 ) - Two words DIEGO MARADONA do i have to say more about what makes this team great ?
France ( 1998 ) - The best in recent times , a mean defence with the genius of Zidane up front. The workmanship of Deschamps, Vieira in midfield.
