Hmmm....I've read of other babies having this problem, but their docs always prescribed something. Did the doctor say why he wouldn't prescribe? What was his advice, then? If this continues, I'd either pester the doctor for something, or get another doctor.

My daughter had some trouble with that- but she didnt actually spit up... I could just hear it in her chest and throat... the doctors did not want to give her anything unless she was in pain. They said most babies grow out of it. My baby is 5 months old and doesnt seem to have problems with it anymore. They suggested putting a wedge under her mattress so she slept more upright. I let her sleep in her swing a lot. Spitting up is normal in babies. My sister's baby spit up every time she ate until she was about 7 or 8 months old. I didnt and dont like medicating my baby. If something isnt causing her physical discomfort or harm, then why put "foreign" things in her body. I didnt want to "alter" anything in her body. If the doctor's dont want to prescribe her anything, I dont think that's a bad thing. A couple things my drs suggested to me-- 1-2 oz. caffeine free herbal tea once a day to baby. if you are breastfeeding, you may be eating something your lil one is allergic too-- like milk. if baby is bottle/formula fed, maybe she needs a formula change. Babies tummies are sensitive. :o) Good luck with your baby and her reflux.

I had this problem as well with my now 12 year old son and had to switch formula. The only thing that did help his was eventually I had to make the old fashioned home ade formula, equal amounts of evaporated milk, and water add a little Karo syrup (light not dark) to avoid constipation and you must add either poly vi sol or try vi sol vitamin drops to ensure that your baby gets the proper vitamin intake. Also ask your doctor about nutramigen or alimentum baby formula they are supposed to help but didn't work in my case. good luck

my grandson did the same thing when he was young and had to have surgery on his stomach. the tube (or hole) between the stomach and intestine was to small for all the food to pass but he did ok with surgery and was able to hold down formula now he is a big boy at 1yr.
good luck and hope she is doing better soon. check with a different doctor.always get a 2nd opinion if you don't like what your 1st doctor says.

my daughter had/has this problem. but her Dr. perscribed med.(liquid zantac, then Nexum). he also told us to give her pedialite. you my have to keep this beside her bed at night, it seems worse at night, because she is lying down. the fluid comes up in her throat. also try a good thick formula(Nutramigin) or put a small amount of baby cereal in it. this gets pricey but she is so worth it. so,is your sanity. my daughter didn't sleep for the first 14 months of her life. the acid was so bad.
she is 3 now but still has problems every now and then. she takes chewable pepto now.
good luck w/ your precious. she really doesn't understand why she throws up. it's scary for them.but, she WILL get better.

Both of my children had it and I took them off of formula and gave them Red cap Milk with these really stinking vitamins. It is good for them and the reflux should stop.

Ask your pediatrician about Donatol (?sp). When my son was an infant, he had the same problem, along with chronic croup. It is a prescription, but it worked wonders. At this point, I would insist on something to help her or find another pediatrician who will help.

make sure that her formula is warm enough if its too cold it could upset her stomach. it could be the milk also maybe she needs soy. if you have burped her and your not over feeding you might have to change her milk ...maybe something with less iron or she just might need the soy... i suggest you change doctors too especially if shes just spitting up almost everything if its just some thats pretty much normal

Feed her comfort proteins. Her stomach isn't liking the food she is being fed so change it immediately. Be sure to give her plenty of liquids or she will get dehydrated. Pedialyte is best for that.
