It's not JUST a prolapsed uterus that does this. You can have a damaged or prolapsed bladder too called a Cystocele.

There is surgery to correct this, and if you're still young and want to keep your uterus, you CAN have it repaired. (If it's only to the point of making you pee, then it's not that bad. A bad prolapse is when the uterus is coming out of your vagina)

I have had both the initial corrective surgery, the Rectocele/Cystocele repair, and most recently a full hysterectomy because of this. I would recommend you try to correct it before a hysterectomy if you can. But, sometimes it's necessary.

Here's a good site to get more info, both on alternatives, and what to do if you decide to have a hysterectomy.

my mom has this actually, her doctor used the term uterine prolapse. When i looked in my anatomy and physiology book, it said that the muscles that hold the uterus in place gets weak causing the uterus to fall down slightly. was yours 3rd degree? because this condition can be fixed over time. Have you heard of kegal exercises? This straightens and tightens the muscle in your area below which can help bring the uterus back into place. When you leak out urine, is it external or internal? if its internal, this is more serious. If its external, relax and tighten up those muscles. I suggest going to a male gyno who is more experienced, and older.

Yes, I went to several different doctors before one told me what it was. It usually doesn't hurt anything. Go to webmd.com and put the word prolapse in. It gives great information. Good luck to you.
