Religion is a belief, truth is absolute. When asked the question, "What is the ultimate "Truth"?" people percieve it as holding a Religious value. Although to the people under the belief of that particular Religion, Religion is a belief - an opinion that varies from person to person, truth is an absolute.
Absolute: adj. Not to be doubted or questioned.
Religion is both doubted and questioned, by billions of people. Truth is absolute, therefor it cannot be questioned. Truth is not an opinion between people, it is the factual representation of a problem or statement. The conformity to fact or actuality.
That being said, "What is the ultimate "Truth"?":
"Honesty is the best policy, unless of course you are an extraordinary liar."

In one word, the ideal is that you are divine..........swami Vivekananda( he represented Hinduism in the west)
In Hindu Scriptures......you find these....."great utterances"....as they are called........
Hindus call this as the ultimate truth......the core idea on which Hinduism is built........
"Tat Twam Asi".......which means "I am HE(god)"
"Aham Brahmasmi"......which also means "I am God"
In Christianity............."I and my Father are One..."
