Hitler was a mad man.
However, he was not particularly racist but wanted only one race in only one particular state.
Hutu were completely different. They did not want to make their state more powerful. They just wanted to rid Rwanda of their hated enemy.
I live in the Republic of Ireland. Here there is no hatred for England. And why?
There is so many terrible things that they have done to us in the past. We COULD hate them, but we don't.
I think it is about Ireland's wealth. Because we are rich we don't CARE about Northern Ireland. There is no need because our lives are not affected. It is like Northern Ireland is not there.
What is the need to fight for independence if my (the republican people) people are happy with their lives. We don't see the need as it would just bring death and badness.
The only reason people listened to Hitler was becuase they were POOR and they would listen to anyone who could sort out their woes. They were brainwashed into thinking a common enemy was the fault for THEIR woes and believed this as Germany became richer and richer...

Hitler had the idea that the Germanic Aryans were a "Master Race", and all inferior races should either be subjugated or exterminated. The German high command actually had scales of value for human life. I read once that the Germans calculated (for example; I don't recall the exact figures) that the objective worth of the life of one German was the equivalent of 10 Slovaks or 75 gypsies.
It's hard to believe that one race is superior to all others. Want to denigrate the Pakistanis and Indians? Then explain why they seem to produce such highly intelligent scientists and mathameticians. How about Asians? Oh wait..... there is that nasty, inconvenient fact that they excel scholastically. But what about blacks? Can anyone imagine a more intellectually gifted Secretary of State than Condaleeza Rice? How about singers like Dione Warwick or athletes like Michael Jordan?
I think the one facet of Hitler's ideas that really scare contemporary people is the concept of eugenics: improving the human race through selective breeding. Have you ever seen the Star Trek episode, "Space Seed", or the movie followup, "The Wrath of Khan"? The premise of these stories is that Earth embarked on a program of eugenics to make the human race smarter, stronger, and more physically perfect. The downside is that superior intellect breeds increased desire by genetically enhanced humans to rule over the less gifted. The result is war.
Why was Hitler wrong?
1) you can't take on the whole world
2) the Germans are not a "master race"
3) enslavement and denigration of certain races only highlights the basic flawed premise of your own civilization. Human beings are supposed to be tolerant and commpassionate.

What you are also forgetting is that Stalin killed more people than Hitler, and that the "war on terror" is killing more people.
It is all to do with social perspectives, for example the way things are done, and the reason behind them.
Look at Vietnam, soldiers grenaded their own officers.
The government tells it's people it is for the greater good, and then when another country sees it as a threat to it's power it is a travesty.
I mean how many old people die in the UK due to lack of care, that the government knows about, this is genocide, a form of social control, but it is palmed off as a social issue!
It's good to see that some one isn't controlled by mediated reality, keep thinking outside the box! I will!

You are confusing 'best' or 'safe' or 'content' or 'civilised' or 'satisfied' with aggressive and therefore powerful.
Other people don't want to be ruled by your nation. Even if you think you're better than them.
What makes your country so great that you can dominate others?
Eradicate poverty and abuse in your own country before you start sorting out everyone else.
There are 5 steps to fascism:
1) Obey
2) Divide the community into Us and Them
3) Give the order "do Them harm"
4) See who refuses and label them as 'sympathisers with Them' to make an example of them and make ditherers toe the line in fear.
5) Exterminate Them.
This is how psychologists tell if a system is fascistic; from governments to cults.
All Fascist governments from Hitler to Stalin use these methods. They are aggressive behaviours. They involve dominating others and exterminating those that don't agree.
To achieve his ends, Hitler murdered some 13 millin civilians; German citizens as well as people in the countries he invaded.
The disabled were the first to be sytematically murdered. Methods of mass murder were practised on them. Next it was Trade Unionists, Artists, Gypsies and Communists, about 6 million people. All rounded up into concentration and death camps. Then it was Jews, again, about 6 million. Surviving Jews named this The Holocaust; non-Jews didn't call it anything.
What is remotely admirable about it? Why do people need to dominate?
Fascism is the opposite of community and co-operation.
When we found out was was happening in Ethiopia, we had Live Aid. Community behaviour makes people feel good about themselves and others.

Historicaly what many people remember about Adolf Hitler is the 2nd World War and the extermination of millions of Jews.
After the Treaty of Versaille Germany was destroyed (perhaps needlessly)and Hitler gave the nation back some pride. To answer your question NO, he and the rest of the nation just didn't knwo when to stop. Regretably, a very common human trait.

Atrocities happen every day around the world; leaders oppressing and murdering their opponents in a waped attempt to grab power for themselves or their so-called beliefs. There are people that see people of other religions or ethnicities or colors as sub-human, worthy of destruction.
They are exactly like Hitler and the hateful destruction that he perpetrated in Germany as they struck out at their neighbors in a spasm of retribution for World War I. Though they had more people and some of the strongest echnology available, the ambition is the same sort in Ruwanda, for example.
The difference is that Hitler was so damn good at it.

Absolutely he was wrong. He used anti-Semitism to galvanize his movement by using the Jews as a scapegoat and target of national dissatisfaction over the loss of World War 1 and the problems of the Depression. He also had a personal hatred and loathing for the Jews which has led to speculation that he may have had a Jewish ancestor.
Hitler was, frankly speaking an evil genius, like his contemporary Joseph Stalin. Both were responsible for the systematic death of millions of innocent people.
"Genocide is absolutely wrong by any standard of ethics or morality.
I have met Holocaust survivors and have heard their stories. I can in no way imaginable justify such absolute evil.

The question should not be if he was wrong or wright! in a world where we pretend to be free, one of the fundamentals is that our mind should be free. In that way there can be no wrong idea or principal (as long as it doesn't affect other people's 'freedom').
The good question is 'did the purpose justify the means'... this question has been repeated over the centuries. Even during the Roman Empire Catalina pretended that all means were justified if it served the purpose. there is one famous quote 'necessitas non habet legem' which should be applied in all cases, but with respect for others their freedom.
For the ones who should read this answer: don't think we are free, we are manipulated egoistic pigs. we know that injustice is all over the world, even in your area, in your street, maybe even in your home.... but we just close our eyes to this in order to preserve our small little comfortable capitalistic world and to forget that freedom is the biggest illusion created for those who aren't free

It's not wrong at all to rescue your country from a complete economic collapse as was the case with Hitler in the early years of his political career. I must however stress that when you add dictatorial power to a mental condition that's tenuous at best and couple it with the level of substance abuse that has come to light in recent years, you have the perfect recipe for disasterous goings on. Ethnic cleansing, although prevalant, is just one of the possible outcomes of such circumstances. I'd suggest reading a book or two about facism, dictatorships, substance abuse, and mental instabilities. There are volumes of stuff out there and a lot of them are slanted toward political agenda, so choose your material carefully.

The truth be known he was a very clever man who made a mistake if had had been more careful then the world would be a lot different. Having said that I'm glad he failed, but at least he had the guts to take on the fight, and not hide away like the cowards of 9/11. He may have gone a little mad, but at least you knew what was going on with him.

Yes, Hitler was wrong and he was an evil man. He did not want to better his country, he wanted to Rule the world. If not, he wouldn't have invaded other countries. He would have kept his genocide in Germany, only.
His actions are seen repeated by other evil men that seek to control and destroy those that do not bow to them.
Hell awaits them.
