The people who are so incredibly ignorant about evolution? These are their reasons for denying it:
1. "It's just a 'theory.'" Too bad they don't know what a theory is! A theory isn't a simple musing that a scientist pulled out of his ***, it's a universal explanation for a set of hypotheses, and hypotheses are testable explanations for a set of data and observations. Theories are completely misunderstood.

2. "It can't be proven." That's such crap! Charles Darwin published his Origin of Species 160 years ago, do you not think that if it hadn't been studied vigorously and been found extremely successful, that we wouldn't even give a crap about him now? That is why there is a such a huge debate about it, because it's been proven hundreds of thousands of times.

3. People always give Charles Darwin a hard time. Why do you pick on him? Why don't you just talk to the scientists who've been doing research these past 160 years?

Yeah, I totally agree with you

1. Theories should, like, make a blog and express themselves. Even better, they can make a support group and pressure the government for a special law against discriminating against theories.

2. They should debate with my ex. She prooves everything, and even gives out pictorials and guidelines on why I am always wrong.

3. Charles Darwin should enter the basketball team while not doing his experiments so that girls will start to like him.

I agree with you on sooo many levels!! People just need to listne and embrace other ideas, even though they think it is not as good as theirs, they should listen and be considerate, but that's hard for ignorant people! I know last year when i took biology, we could only talk a little about the religious side of it, but a lot of the evolutionary part of it, and my teacher apologized for it, but it was a part of the state standards. But, there are different levels of creationist vs. evolustionist...i am one who is more towards the evolution side, with a bit of the religious in there...so there are soo many different varieties so one doesn't really know which one they are, unless they can take the time to listen to the other views.

Well, I don't believe in evolution because I'm christian. If you say you evolved from a monkey I'll believe you. People give Charles Darwin a hard time because he was before his time and he got people thinking differently, sometimes people get scared when they hear or see something that's different. You have your views on evolution and I have mine, the fact that I believe something different shouldn't piss you off. It's just a difference of opinions.

Darwin had not disproven creationsionism though either. He just based his theories of evolution on observance. One belief does not exclude the proof another. there is co-existance. You cannot disprove any of these theories and therefore cannot prove them either. Just because we make sense out of things with our scientific minds do not mean that they are absolute truth. we understand things with the limitations of our brains. Absolute Truth if there is any, stretches way beyond our limited capacity to understand it. the question is, why can't people live with the knowledge that we don't and can't know everything?

Yes. Evolution, right or wrong, is an idea that causes a lot of heat. I am all for a intelligent debate on the subject, but if you are completely closed to the idea that you may actually be wrong then there is no point in asking anyone what they think about it.

What frustrates me is that even if it could be said that evolution is not proven, what argument do they have against it? What proof do they have to back up creation? Their only argument is that it's written in a book. I could write anything I want in a book, and if I'm convincing enough to the right group of people, I could get a following, but that wouldn't make my statements true.

The Greek Aesop wrote a lot of fables. Doesn't make them all true.

I have the same thoughts. I hate people that claim it is just a theory yet do not even know what a theory is. From what I gather most people who deny evolution do not even know what it really is and just to what they are told like sheep.

All anyone has to do is look at phographs and paintings from the distant past and compare the people then, with the people now, and they will see examples of short term evolution.

I think there's something to be said in favor of anyone who questions commonly held theories or beliefs. That's how things change.

If you, as someone who believes strongly in the theory of evolution are questioned, you should welcome it as a chance to share your viewpoint and educate that person as to what, specifically you think about it.

Would you expect a Christian to do anything less if you asked him or her about why they think Jesus was the Son of God?
