The chicken crossed the road for 3 main reasons:
1) There was a really smelly tramp on her side of the road.
2) The other side of the road had a slightly more up-market reputation and she thought that she may be able to buy better shoes there and:
3) She had sub-conscious suicidal ideation owing to being abused by a rather large farmer whilst only a hatchling.

He wanted to be in the movie ''chicken run''!He crossed the road because the auditions were on the other side but got squished on and ended on my play instead :=)

Because it was a free range hen. If she had been a battery hen, she would have been cooped up and unable to even cross her legs.
