How can I measure the amount or strength of claps using my computer. Does anyone know a free software for this

I am using Van Basco's karaoke player and planning a small song contest with this software. Since it is going to be a CONTEST someone must be the first and so on.

The only thing i suggest is to buy a cheap decibel meter (radio shack, etc.) and do it that way.
