he took michael owen off in the second half, and you could see that englands performance was soor poor as a result of this, leaving crouch all by hiself up front, who was he meant to pass the ball to? and typically sven is blaming the poor performance in the second half on the hot weather, what an idiot. what do you think about it.

I'm in total agreement. the weather was a slight factor, but every host nation we've seen has a warmer climate than britain so preparations should be made, even if it means training in thermals & sweaters! Another factor was the ref... 1st half he was a perfect nit-picker, but the 2nd half, he went OTT - it was almost like he wanted it to go to a penalty shoot out! (which is where England REALLY need to improve!)
I'm going 2b optimistic & hope it was one of 2 things...
a) 1st night nerves - could be justified with our track record.
b) sven's hustling! lulling other teams into a false sense of complacency - I hope that is the answer but if I'm honest, it sounds too much like a conspiracy theory!
EDIT: why do idiots like the 1st answerere bother with questions that they aren't interested in? are they that despr8 for 2 points? I pride myself more on my best answer percentage than overall points.
Also - is it legitimate for a ref to deny a physio access to an injured player??? or water to any other player???

Will Sven ever stop coming up with these crap excuses. He has one of the best, if not the best team in world. If he could only make the right tactical decisions we could walk the world cup. Taking Walcott and not playing him, even entertaining the thought of playing Hargreaves, not using Carrick and relying your whole WC plan on Rooney (who is probably never going to make full match fitness in my opinion) is stupid beyond belief. If you have a good overall squad it does not matter how hot it is, how biased the referee is or how many injuries you have. If you score goals you win and England can not do that if Crouch is not supported!!............COME ON SVEN WE DON'T WANT EXCUSES WE WANT GOALS!! get rid of Hargreaves NOW

I thought getting owen and j.cole was one thing, but substituting them with a left winger and defender was just ridiculous. Yeah, we could see that Crouch was sandwiched by 3-4 defenders during sometimes and the referee was obviously biased against him. Sven should have blady got Crouch off instead.

I am from so Wales, so this is a totally un-biased opinion. The ref was terrible. He couldn't have been more biased to Paraguay. He was giving them free kicks for very silly reasons and was very strict with the England players. When Paraguay did what I believe to be harsh tackles the ref would say play on!

It was the first game, it was 90degrees and we got three points. We all know we can improve and we need to improve to win the trophy. Still a bit uneasy about Walcott and why he wasn't thrown on for sheer pace at the end. Subs has never been Sven's strongpoint.

we fell 2 piece's in the second half if we only won 1-0 2 par I'm starting 2 worry as we should have flown through that match
