It is to early to apply as most want start to look at you until the beginning of your junior year. However, you could start thinking about where you would like to go to school and what are the entry requirements There are so many great colleges out there and it takes some time to find the right one.

Right now, your main focus should be to get the best grades and take the right classes to get you in the best schools.

Also start to research about scholarships and grants, as the more knowledge you have in this area, the more money you will be able to get for for college.

Check out the library and look for books in the reference section called The College Blue Books... These books contain tons of info on money for college.

Take a look at this link. It will tell you a little about these books:

I would start looking for colleges you like on the Internet at the end of your sophomore year. Junior year would be a good time to go out and visit some of the schools to see what they are all about. If you have an idea of what major you would like to persue by then it would be helpful. I would also start researching how you are going to pay for college at this time. Ask schools about financial aid and what they offer new students. Its better to start a little earlier and make an informed decision instead of waiting until senior year. Take your time and be selective.

best of luck,

You should start applying for college your senior year of high school, because then by the end of your senior year, you will have a college to go to, Make sure that you fill out at least three college applications when you do apply for college in case your first or second choice of college doesn't approve your application.

You should probably start to THINK about where you would like to go to college late in your junior year around when you take the SAT.

Most universities and colleges won't have their new applications for admission ready until around the fall of your senior year, so don't worry about filling out paperwork until fall or winter. If you want to apply early decision to a college, it is best to call the college junior year to ask when they require early decision applications to be turned in. I say junior year only because, unlike the typical applications which are due around the same times, the early decision deadlines are much earlier and could catch you off-guard if you don't plan ahead a little.

Some universities and colleges allow you to apply for regular admission as late as March of your senior year. To avoid the rush (or, more importantly, if your chosen colleges admit on a rolling basis) I suggest applying in the winter around December and January.

I just graduated from high school so what I think you should do is start researching on possible colleges anytime by senior year. You shouldn't start actually applying until senior year because you tend to change your mind and discover new things about different colleges. Trust me. You have plenty of time to decide about college. Just remember to actually apply early during your senior year.

Junior or senior year is probably best because you will have the academics and grades to show on your transcript, but if there is a particular college that you want to go to, it is never to early to get with the school counselor to start planning what you should do to improve your chances of being accepted. A lot of colleges have certain criteria to narrow the field of who they let in and you are in a good position now to be able to meet those criteria.

Usually the deadlines are Novemberish, so when you start school as a senior, you should start. However, don't wait that long to plan. Figure out what you want to study, and at least 5 places you want to study that. Complile a list of references (especially teachers) as you go through hs, and make sure you take all the math and science you can (unless you are going into music or art or something). Take the SAT/ACT as a Junior.

Start looking at the collages you want to go to find out what GPA you need to get in,Look at the SAT score that they require. You can do all of this your freshmen and sophomore year and star applying your JR & SR. years. The sooner you get that done the more fun you can have your SR year cause then you won't have to worrie about it. Good Luck.
