I have successfully pinned responsibility for fraud on a car dealership in my area (Sask, Canada) and now they want to discuss the matter. They want to record the meeting and I am very leary about it....I would prefer a court recorder but no other format. I believe they are trying to use this next meeting against me in a future court dealing (discovery). I am not a lawyer but need advice as my income is very tight (4 little boys under age 5)! Any serious, honest and solid tips out there ?

Mediation is one option you can consider.

Many small claims (municipal) courts sponsor free mediation programs, and other resources may be available in your community.

Mediation allows you to work with the other party towards a solution, with help from someone who is trained in dispute resolution.

Also, check your local province laws regarding privileges relating to settlement negotiations and/or mediation. A solicitor (lawyer) will be able to answer these questions, if you can't find the laws yourself.
