The authorities did it. The bible (for example), was compiled by the Emporer Constantine when he made Christianity the state religion. He kept the bits he liked, and banned the rest. Therefore Constatine created God as Christians currently understand it.

You are not casting the net wide enough. God did not make the world, it made the universe.

So, um, is the universe infinite. Crap, we have been through all this before. Late night dorm sessions, and on this message board.

If the universe has no begininning and no end, then God is infinite, and nothing made it. Period. If it is not infinite in both directions, then your question has meaning.

There is of course no way of knowing the answer. We know about the big bang, but something existed before it, and it may have been the previous universe, and guess who was selling tickets to it.

Another interesting way to look at it. If the universe expands forever, it would imply there was a pre-universe, then who created God? If the universe contracts, well God controlls the recreation, and is indeed infinite.

Wow man, pass that doobie...

God, in my humble opinion, is a paradox. The way I heard it if I was to keep going in a straight line faster than the universe is expanding for long enough I'd end up where I started because the universe is in fact a bubble of some kind, and a very weirdly shaped one at that. Now if space is curved in this way time must be as well right, because time and space are inseparable (hence the space/time continuum). Now, my theory is this, perhaps God actually emerged out of a universe at some nondescript point in omniversal history, or maybe out of the last/first universe, if there can be such a thing (that's another theory, there maybe multiple universes), hence, the creation created the creator! Perhaps.

If we analyze this from a philosopher angle, we come to the answer that no one created God, that he just exists because he is the first and last cause of everything. For example: Why is that day and night happens? It meves because the earth has 2 different movements...Which are those 2 movements and why do the happen? They happen because the attraction of the sun bla bla bla... If you keep on aswering this questions you'll come to a point where you cannot find a scientific explanation and that's where God appears as the last cause of everything, and as the first as well.
But if you analize from a differen angle, you could say that God is something that men invented for things that they cannot explain. For example, ancient civilizations used to have many gods, one for the raind, for the wind, etc. they sis this because the couldn't explain things around them.

Some Christians believe that God invented time, so therefore God has existed since before the beginning of time....basically a play on words. Many believe that God is infinate because time wasn't created until the universe was

That is precisely the argument against the design theory. The answer- for those who believe that God exists at all- is the theory of the Causa Sui. This means that God created himself. It is a complete rape of logic, but there you have it.

we can only answer with the frame of reference we have as humans i.e. linear time and 3 dimensions.

If god is infinate eternal and all knwoing then we will never be able to understand how he created time in the first place, as we cannot concieve of there being no time or solidity to our existence.

geddit?

then the answer is......... he made god. So what if it doesn;t make sense...does it have to?
