It left a long, bitter aftertaste in my mouth.

Mixture of sour and bitter. But the aftertaste is sweet because the feeling is 'one step of tolerance leads to a big step of the ocean'.

It should not leave you with an aftertaste. You are the one that has come out of the experience a bigger and better person for it because you have openly acknowledged to another person you were wrong, where few people can do what you did and still retain their pride and dignity.

Humble pie is my favorite dish! Humility brings peace to yourself and all those around you. I think Jesus had it right, expressing humility at all costs. He was a peaceful man, emotionally peaceful, as are/were many spiritual leaders. Look at Dr. Martin Luther King. Talk about HUMBLE! And full of joy and inner peace. Could there ever be a more glorious way to live life on earth? Not for this chick! Chow down!
