How is the culture in the midwest different from the culture in the northeast?

Despite Chicago, the Midwest is a flat farming community. The Northeast has a broader base, in that it has a history of fishing on the coast- Insurance in Connecticut, and was part of the original thirteen Colonies, to make for a "Colonial" atmosphere.

The geography and terrain are a little more uneven and rugged and the influence of New York is vast.

The Midwestern people are usually the LAST to embrace new and interesting cultural patterns.

This will sound strange, but it is my observation people in the midwest will talk to you and give you assistance should you need it however give you things such as food or clothing is a no-no. Yet in the northeast, the first question people seemed to ask me was "Are you hungry here eat." and I didn't even say anything.

Culture throughout the mid-west is different in each state just like it is in the Northeast. You have to be more specific and to the point of what your asking in this question. Cultures here in the Twin Cities in Minnesota are different in itself with different nationalities thru out the cities. You have to live here to see the differences.

With the exception of a few metropolitan areas (maybe just Chicago, maybe not even there), the Midwest is culturally less diverse, "plain vanilla" if you will. Ethnicity is not embraced to the extent it is on the coasts. The pace of living is easier, the people friendlier and more apt to cut you some slack.

People of the northeast run a much faster paced life. Always multi-tasking. Some of us in the NE are very nice people- we're just a little harder to get to know. We're too busy.

o yes i am from connecticut and i was in oklahoma for 3 months. i never thought i could meet such incompitent people in this country but bamm there u have it. not all oklahomians are incompitent but the majority of the ones i met definatly were. as far as culture goes yes. they are more slow then the north east as far as business speed going on. in the highschool i was in they did not have computer catologes they were still using the paper ones. the libary in the town was reduced to one small room. but just the way of life and the manner of the speech is all u need to see to realize yes much difference.
