it's obvious that you do study with books so i think you should not make notes intead try to mark all the things which is imp. with pencil and just think about your goal. but don't be tensed in examination time. just be cool and be confident and sure that you will definetly achive what you want. remember try to study atleast ten hours a day.

For any exam: study over a period of time (DO NOT CRAM), get plenty of sleep the night before, and have a positive frame of mind - do not say you don't know it. If it's a literature class, make sure you've read the books, or if you haven't, at least read the Sparknotes very thoroughly. Sparknotes also make for a great review.
If it's a natural science like Biology, study in which ever way is most helpful to you. I make flashcards of everything, and it helps me memorize it. If that doesn't help, try reading everything a couple of times, or just writing it over and over again. There are many ways to study so keep trying until you find something that helps you the most.
If it's a physical science like Chemistry or Physics (and also Math), WORK OUT PROBLEMS. I cannot stress the importance of that. Working out the problems will make you very familiar with the formulae and terms, and chances are the problems from the homework will be on the test or very similar to the problems on the test. Also study the vocabulary in whichever way is most helpful.

absolutely no cramming >< it doesn't work for big exams.
get plenty of sleep before the exam, like... if your exam's on friday, get enough sleep on at least tues-thur. last time I stayed up the whole night before 3 exams, plus i didn't get enough sleep for the whole week and i did really bad on my tests i practically fell asleep and couldn't concentrate ._____. learn from my mistake.
review your notes regularly, not just before exams, that way you'd be able to retain your information better and don't have to cram that much before exams.
i don't know about you but i listen to what the teacher's talking about in class so that i remember the stuff we're doing better.
make sure you understand all the material taught in class, and if you have a weak point in a specific topic, try to improve it by reading more about it or by asking you teacher for help.
teaching other people the information really helps you remember things when you're studying too.
:) good luck in exams

Make a list of the definitions in the chapter you are studying. Go over these every day. If there are any sentences or paragraphs that is in bold type, also go over these every day. Read the chapter every day. You can not understand or remember if all you do is to cram the night before. Good Luck!

I just finished my bachelors degree in college. I was a horrible test taker in high school. Each person has their own special way of remembering items, once you find it and start using it you will be amazed at the difference it will make. hit the internet and look under test taking strategies and try some of these techniques until you find one that is effective for you

DON"T CRAM!!! Study a little bit each night. Try studying with a friend and quiz each other to see how much you each know. Re-reading the material (textbooks, handouts etc.) and not just your notes helps a lot. GOOD LUCK!
