If you want official information, there is a state department online that has up to date information. Also, you can check in with the us embassy in Lagos, Nigeria. You did not say what country you are presently in. I do not have links readily available. Use the google search option to find them. Lagos, Nigeria itself is full of crime, daylight muggings, and you will need to bribe yourself through police checkpoints. I have never been there, but I have done extensive reading there. You also have ethnic clashes between muslims and christians. There is also the current unrest in the delta region. Nigeria is considered a failed country, so be careful. It is known in the financial circles as a corrupt country. David

I'm a nigeiran residing in Nigeria. Nigeria is a nice place to be. When you come you'll like to check out obudu ranch and some other tourist sites. You can pick up a list of them from the airport.

YEAP ,
THE BEST TIME TO GO IS DURING THE DRY SEASON IF YOU WANT GOOD MANGOS. OKAY THAT IS PROBABLY NOT WHAT YOU WANTED, BUT IT IS TRUE. WHEN YOU GO MAKE SURE NOT TO BOAST ABOUT WHERE YOU ARE COMING FROM. ONE MORE THING DO NOT TRAVEL AT NIGHT OR CARRY IMPORTANT STUFF. WHEREEVER YOU GO TAKE SMALL AMOUNTS OF MONEY.
