Funny you should ask. I will give you the straight poop. Just don't tell me to butt out. I heard this years ago. I think I was in college. People in India and other impoverished countries use human waste to fertilize their gardens and fields. Makes sense. You use what you have. The crops flourish. Human waste is extremely organic and enriched with many nutrients that plants need. However, the local farmers can eat the produce with no ill effects(their systems are use to it), but if someone else were to eat the same vegetables, they would get sick. Don't pooh pooh this advice.

I remember quite well, as a little girl in Germany, farmers would empty all the cess pools on their farms and in the city/villages. It would then get spread over all the farmer's fields once a year. That was before they developed all the chemical fertilizers they have now. Which will probably end up killing us sooner than any human waste spread around.
It always amazes me how much difference 50 years make and what people perceive as normal now. Many haven't a clue as to what happened and how things were done in the past.

i live out in the sticks and up until about ten years ago, they would pump the septic systems then go spray it on the fields for growing season. It made good fertilizer but the healt department deemed it to have too many contaminents to use any longer, I think they take the sewage they pump to a treatment center now days. So the answer is as adding nutirents for plants to the soil yes, as far as contaminents NO!!!!!!! Alot of commercial fertilizer contains animal waste. Now,,,,,,,,,,,,, eat up that corn !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is good fertilizer and is used after processed. The reason for not using it is that diseases can be spread easily through our waste. It is used fresh in some parts of the world.
