i am an asian living in asia, and asians usually have large families coz they hope that their sons will help them in the paddy field, rubber plant, etc (most have very large field/plant/orchard) while daughters help the cookings and stuffs for the large family, (which explains why asians prefer to have boys but since they can't control the sex of their child, they just reproduce until they have a sufficient number of boys) and i don't mean to be rude or anything, but simply put, they help out their families unlike today's modern western teenagers who would rather spend their time hanging out with friends or partners since they don't have to worry about food and money and everything (including asians who live in the west).i hope i answered your question =)

My ex neighbour (Muslim Pakistan) has been in this country 23 years, never done a days work since he's been here and has....
wait for it 12 kids. His house was done up by the council last year and they've wrecked it already and want it done again.

Oh yes, neither he or his wife can speak a word of English.

I live in an area that's 80% Asian and they are the largest family I've ever met, most people have 1 to 4 kids, there's nothing wrong with that is there?

like someone said before, ur being racist without even trying, mate. 'swallowing up the country'-what country? 'these people'-u might as well be referring to animals.
I come from an asian family myself-the eldest of four kids. Big families are great, yeh the main idea was so the children can look after the parents when theyr old, but there's always the idea of unity. Bigger families tend to be closer to one another, and that aint due to lack of space.
U should stop being so narrow minded, and stereotyping.

It has been in the Indian culture for the last 2000 years to have large families. The kings of India, always had at least 50 wifes from all over the world and it was considered a part of the status symbol to have lots of descendants from those many wifes. The culture is still an integral part of the Indian society and eventhough men just have one wife, they still have lots of children from them. Furthermore, the main occupation in India is that of farming, and this requires a lot of help, so many children to help the parents. If you go into the metropolitan towns, the concept of nuclear family is predominent.

Not all of them do but it may have something to do with it being tradition or maybe something to do with contraception, or lack thereof. I know a few white people with huge families but the asians I know tend not to have more than 4 kids. I know one asian family with 4 kids, they are all grown up now and each one of them is mature and earning a living. Isn't that better than sponging off the state? And by the way, all 4 of the kids were born in England. I know the mum wasn't but not sure about the dad.

You against the parents or the kids.
Did you ever ask why God created man.Its a good question to ask your self if you want to do a little soul searching.

For every 10 kids in a family there are 10 families that don't have kids and when these families see those kids they reach out to them as if they are their own its a blessing in disguise.

But it depends on how you look at it.
Cheers

More to do with the respect shown towards women. In these countries women have no other socio-economic role bar having and raising children. The more economically developed a society is, the less children women tend to have.

Funny!!!

You're being racist without trying, how clever.

This is just a stereotypical bigoted statement.

Try reading something other than the right wing press and you will see that people are people and shouldn't be categorized in so simple a fashion as in your question.

Because they tend to be conservative and don't believe in birth control.y
Also, many asian parents believe the more children, the better. Why? Because that guarantees that they'll have somebody to take care of them when they're elderly.
