I am trying to gather real information, from regular people, who have experienced a ghost sighting, haunting, or the presence of anything of a paranormal nature. My reason? To gain insight into this phenomena, and further my understading of it. The more details you can give me the better. Such as did the room get cold, did you feel weird before the sighting, how it has effected you.
Personally, I have had an experience I cannot explain. The place I used to live at, I was sitting on the couch, (home alone), and felt a cold hand grab the back of my neck, and as I turned, I saw what looked like a man, a dark figure, standing in the hallway. I also experienced sleep paralysis, at this place, and I have not experienced it since. My daughter, kept saying there was a monster in her room, we would hear her carrying on conversations when no one was in the room with her, and her behaivior was terrible, while we lived there. Since we have moved, all of these things have stopped.

Any and all answers are appreciated. I want to hear the positive, as well as the negative. Tell me if you believe in Ghosts. Do you have an explanation regarding this phenomena? Do you know of any mythological, psychological, psychiatric, Biblical, sociological, or any other sources? If so, what are they? Any insight is appreciated. I will post the conclusion of my investigatons to my 360 blog, starting in late July. I will be using references gained here, literary and scientific sources, historical accounts, and actual field investigations. Your answers are needed and appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks to everyone who answered this question. Every bit of information has increased my understanding, into paranormal phenomena.
Our team will be conducting our first field investigation, mid July. You can look at the blog on my 360 page, for not only those results, but results of other investigations to come, and perhaps excerpts, from the paper, I am planning to write, about this most interesting subject.
It is up to you all to decide the best answer. I think they are all good. :-)

the next day that my father's mother past away. my dad, 3 uncles, several relatives and me were sitting down in the family room discussing the events of the day. it was about midnight. there is a long corridor going from the family room to the kitchen area and dining room.well to make it short, all of us in a moment of silence for whatever reason, we all turned toward the kitchen area and the dining room and in the dim light, we all clearly saw a dark siliuette resembling grandma walk from the kitchen area to the dining room. Then in our silence my father spoke in a soft and tranquil voice and said "look there's mama getting supper ready". we all just stared at each other. no screams, no coldness... no suspense.. we all accepted what we saw and in our silence, we said a prayer to our "mama" ..... When our time comes, supper will be ready for us.

I have only seen an apparition once, but have felt the presence many times.
Probably the best story is about the house I grew up in. After my Mom died, we did not sell it straight away, but leased it out to acquaintances. It was Christmas, and the couple living there was decorating the house. They were setting up a Nativity scene. The young man asked his girlfriend if she was cooking something. She replied no, yet the house smelled strongly of tomato sauce. Later on in the day, they noticed that the figures in the Nativity scene had been moved - and neither one had moved them. Subsequent tenants also reported strange happenings - things being moved, lost things suddenly appearing and unexplained noises. I recently visited the house, and all is quiet.
I often feel a presence, even to the point of someone putting their hand on my shoulder. Only once did I see someone (my mother), outside of my place of work, standing there smiling and looking at me.
It's always a wonderful experience, and I never, ever fear it.

I've never seen my own 'ghost' yet, but I do believe they are real. Another word I have always called them are 'spirits.' I know there is a spirit or ghost for each one of us. When a person dies, their bodies are separated from their spirits. A disembodied spirit will usually not do any harm or mischief to anyone.
There are spirits who have never had a body. These are spirits of unborn children yet to live.
There are also a large number of spirits who will never receive a body. These spirits are angels of Satan, and try to tempt, deceive, and scare people by fear. Some angry spirits only want to make people miserable like they are.
I do hear of deceased spouses visiting their surviving spouse or their children, also children visiting their surviving parents, etc. These may happen as a plea for help with something. Sometimes it's a warning, or just a reassurance that they still love you. Not all spirits or ghosts are there for trouble.
A spirit has a body of material matter, it is not immaterial. While they are not always detected by our mortal eyes, they are nevertheless real. They will still have the personality of the person they were in life, and they will have memories of all they did and people they knew.

The first time I saw a ghost I was in 6th grade, my grandpa died a few days before I saw him.
I was in bed asleep and I woke up for some reason.
There standing by my closet was a whitish shape, and I knew that shape was my grandpa, but I was so scared I covered my head with the blanket.
Later on when I looked out from under the covers, he was gone.
My parents and Nan Nan told me it was probably him just checking on me.
The second time,
Six years ago, I needed a liver transplant, and I was wheeled to the surgery room, I kissed my husband goodbye and the nurses pushed my on into surgery.
While I was still coherent, just as I was given my meds, I felt a cold hand on my shoulder. I knew that was my Nan Nans' hand, because her hands were always cold, she was diabetic, her hand made me feel safe.
So those were my encounters with ghosts.

Yes, and I'm not kidding. In Rochester, NY, there is a ghost deer. When you drive up on it, you see a ghost of a deer standing in the middle of the road. It looks at you, as a deer would, and then takes three leaps towards the side of the road and then dissappears. It's pretty freaky and it happens every time. For all of the skeptics, it is also in the middle of the woods and I have checked out in the daytime if there is any kind of object that makes a reflection, and there is nothing. This is real!

Well I have but, I was tripping on acid(my first experience). I honestly don't believe it was the acid though that made me see it, but who knows. It was a white and airy figure like you would think a ghost would be, that was about a foot off of the ground. It was male(my best guess) about 4 foot X 1 foot. It appeared in the corner of a dark room(not extremely dark)it was dusk- was visible for a few seconds and then disappeared. My friend who was tripping too saw it too. I saw it first then said look and he saw it right before it was gone. This was about 1987 . I was 15

I was sitting in my living room watching tv... then something blew out a row of candles sitting on my table one by one it was realy scary because i was the only one in the room. Then it walked across the hallway from my room into the bathroom, it was a black sillouet so i couldn't tell what it looked like but it didn't have a face. Then one night i was half alseep in bed and it opened the door walked over to my desk and turned the light on... it was sitting there doing something but i didn't do anything because i was half asleep and thought it was my brother. But then my actual brother walked in the door and asked me why my light was on... my ghost likes playing tricks on me... :)

I think sometime's people after they have passed away develop housatosis. They are probably wondering what kind of person they were. As far as seeing ghost's I have seen a few to many. You know you could go to the store and buy a bottle of Spirit of Camphor and see his ghost.

And about sensation one night i felt that something was not normal in my room, but i still turn off the light, as i was trying to sleep, i felt someone looking at me and moving around my room, i just saw a shadow in front of my bed, but i could feel that in my entire room, there was cold sensation, or anything like that, i just felt something was not normal. And yesterday, but i´m not quite sure of this maybe this was ´cause i was sleepy, but i clearly heard someone in the back of my bed telling me something, when i reacted everything dissapear, quite strange uh!

I've FELT other presences, but i've not actually SEEN them.
A couple of years ago, i was cooking my dad's favorite meal (happens to be mine, too!), and he passed away about 5 years ago. While i was cooking, i FELT him over my shoulder. It was the sensation you have when you wake in the morning and you know who is and who isn't in the house? It was like that.
There was no physical sensation, no physical presence, but i felt him there just hanging out. Was very weird but at the same time comforting. Nay sayers will just say "you were missing him and your mind made him up."
Well, whatever, i KNOW he was passing through my life at that moment.
Hasn't happened since, and i've made our fav meal again since then.
