as I stated before lastnight i was up at 1 in the morning with a sharp pain in my side and stomach, could kinda feel it in my back too, when i took a deep breath it was like a sharp pain...i passed some gas and it went away.

at 3 in the morning i woke up and had the runs...started to feel better once i stoped worrying. *i had dinner at applebees*

Just because I had the runs does that mean it was food poisioning or just an upset stomach?

The symptoms of food poisoning usually affect your stomach and intestines (gastrointestinal tract).

The first symptom is usually diarrhea.
Other symptoms include feeling sick to your stomach (nausea), vomiting, and abdominal cramps.
The time it takes for symptoms to appear, how severe the symptoms are, and how long the symptoms last depend on the infecting organism, your age, and your overall health.

The very young and the very old may be most affected by food poisoning. Their symptoms may last longer, and even the types of food poisoning that are typically mild can be life-threatening. This may also be true for pregnant women and people with impaired immune systems, such as those with long-lasting (chronic) illnesses.

Not all food poisoning results in diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal cramps. Some types of food poisoning have different or more severe symptoms:

Clostridium botulinum (botulism) produces toxins that paralyze the nerves and the muscles. Botulism symptoms usually begin 18 to 36 hours after eating contaminated foods and include weakness and double vision. Paralysis progresses from the head to the rest of the body.
Toxoplasmosis often has no symptoms, or the symptoms are flu-like. You may have swollen lymph glands or muscle aches and pains that last for a few days to several weeks. Toxoplasmosis is dangerous to a pregnant woman and her fetus. For more information, see the topic Toxoplasmosis During Pregnancy.
Listeriosis causes fever, muscle aches, and sometimes nausea or diarrhea. If the infection spreads to the brain and nervous system, then symptoms such as headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, or convulsions can occur. A pregnant woman may experience only a mild, flu-like illness. Infections during pregnancy can lead to premature delivery, serious infection of the newborn, or even stillbirth.
E. coli O157:H7 infection can cause serious complications, such as severe blood and kidney problems, in children younger than 5 years and adults older than 65. For more information, see the topic E. coli Infection.
Salmonellosis may last more than a week and require hospitalization. and bad gas can cause vomiting, and runs

If it was food poisoning, you would have been symptomatic faster than 1 am, presuming you ate dinner at between 7-9 pm. I think food poisoning happens between 30 minutes and 1 hour after eating.

Could be an allergic reaction to some ingredient or food you ate. If you have had this problem in the past, consider writing down what you had for dinner, and asking Applebee's for the specifics. Then you have some basis for comparison.

It could be a minor case of food poisening, in which case be careful about what you eat today eat such things as dry toast and soup. This will help to settle your stomach. It could just be that what you ate does not agree with you, in either case, don't eat the same thing at the same place again lol

report to the health department. this way if others got sick they can correct the problem. but it is unlikely you got it from bad food at applebee's. this is because most everything is perpacked with a lot of chemicals, even the fresh stuff. if it is from applebeee's there will be other people. hope your day gets better.

i'd say food poisoning yes...... as it can come in many forms from mild to life threatening and be caused by many things. might not even be bacterial / viral, just from some foodstuff you have a sensitivity to

with your original symptoms i might well have taken a trip to the emergency department at hospital even just to see what they say because until the gas passing part it sounds like appendicitis. then again i am a hypochondriac and i live in the uk...

*It appears like a Gastroenteritis or there is also possibilty of Staphylococcal food poisoning
*Both are Self limiting diseases(means it will cure by itself in a few days
*Take semisolid or liquid food for 2 days
*Drink lot of fluids (to reduce salt depletion)
*Take 1 day rest
*If you have fever, vomiting or reddish colouration in stools then you will have to see a doc and take medicines
*Dont worry you will be fine
