Ceramic tile is the best choice for a bathroom floor. Unless the tub is an old-fashioned type with feet, you do not have to put new flooring under it; just tile up to it and caulk.

I don't know - but I do have a tip for you. When you caulk around the bath, fill it up with water first. The weight of you plus water will otherwise pull the sealant away when you use it. This will save you having to do it over!

P.S.
If you are concerned about wasting so much water, you can pour it off into the water tank for flushing the loo.
