The Big Bang Theory is the dominant scientific theory about the origin of the universe. According to the big bang, the universe was created sometime between 10 billion and 20 billion years ago from a cosmic explosion that hurled matter and in all directions.
In 1927, the Belgian priest Georges Lemaître was the first to propose that the universe began with the explosion of a primeval atom. His proposal came after observing the red shift in distant nebulas by astronomers to a model of the universe based on relativity. Years later, Edwin Hubble found experimental evidence to help justify Lemaître's theory. He found that distant galaxies in every direction are going away from us with speeds proportional to their distance.

The big bang was initially suggested because it explains why distant galaxies are traveling away from us at great speeds. The theory also predicts the existence of cosmic background radiation (the glow left over from the explosion itself). The Big Bang Theory received its strongest confirmation when this radiation was discovered in 1964 by Arno Penzias and Robert Wilson, who later won the Nobel Prize for this discovery.

Although the Big Bang Theory is widely accepted, it probably will never be proved; consequentially, leaving a number of tough, unanswered questions.

This isn't as much an answer as it is evidence to prove the theory wrong, now if the "Big Bang" had occured then where did we come from, this also writes out evolution, because in order for evolution to take place there needs to be an organism from which we evolved, so if the "Big Bang" created our universe then there would be no life and with no life nothing cn evolve. Those who don't want to believe this do some research, it will do you good, logic isn't always the logical choice...

It was the moment God created the Universe from pure energy. Matter was created from energy. It was the most significant moment in history. Without the Big Bang we would not have been exchanging questions and answers!

previously the solar system and the milky way were not existing everything was clubbed like a mass which is burning.so due to the helium and some explosive gases it splitted into pieces after a long duration those burning bodies slowly took shape and started forming solar system and so many like that.and again the phenomena tells like all the pieces start moving and will club again to form the burning mass that's the big bang theory

it was a huge explosion which created all the stars and Galaxy's that exist today. it is like a bubble which starts off small and gradually expands. this also tells us that the planets and Galaxy's where mach closer from the beginning. even now it expands and planets, Galaxy's and stars are pulled further away from each other. the expansion also cause the vacuum in space.
