I did not dance until I took a course as an arts elective in college. I wore the classic beginner mens ballet outfit. I wore a short sleeve white leotard with black tights and black ballet slippers.
There were only 2 other men in the class and they also wore black tights but one of them usually wore a white T shirt and the other a matching black leotard in long or short sleeve. I latter found Danskin made a mens tights in a Grey or a blue/Grey color and I liked how they looked. To be the most comfortable and blend in with the other dancers I would recommend black. If you feel uncomfortable wearing dancers tights you might ask your teacher if it would be OK to wear runners Lycra style tights. These are heavy er material but also stretch well and your instructor can still see your leg line. Most teachers would be glad to have any male student in their class so other than a professional school with a strict dress code almost anything goes. Happy dancing, Jamie.

I'm just wondering how many different ways you can ask basically the same question, but tweak it a little? And ya know what, if a guy is 25 years old...... he's NOT A BOY!!! We call that a man.

Will you feel surprised if you see a young man wear short pants with black pantyhose in the street?

For classes boys always wear black, unless they're trying to look like starving artists from NYC and then they wear hottie hot shorts and one legwarmer and a M*A*S*H shirt and a shrug.
For performances the tights match your top, like any other costume. For partnering, a pas de deux, the boy always matches the girl's costume.

i think white, as ive always seen them.. male ballet dancers are something not supposed to be laughed about. they're not necessarily gays. people out here should know how to respect other's peoples' choice or point of view. this is a public domain that needed help that's why it's called Yahoo Answer, because we ask and then benefit each other.

Tights come in three colours: black, white and tan. Traditionally, girls wear all three of these colours but most boys stick to black.

Whatever color he likes. If he is concerned about not appearing too feminine, black is always safe.
