Not housewife because it almost makes it sound like you are married to the house, not your spouse!

I don't like domestic engineer because it sounds like women who stay at home are trying to hard to sound employed.

I guess I would go with homemaker because that really is what you are doing-taking care of the home. I also like to say stay-at-home-mom, but I guess that only works if you've got children. :o)

In my opinion we are the domestic engineer because we do all the handy work. Cook...clean...watch the kids...give the kids a bath...and in my home know where everything is including tools.
