If you need the Mac for work, don't focus so much on speed comparisons. The Mac Mini Duo Core 1.66 will be a fast computer. Comparing a Mac's performance to a PC is really hard, since there are so many other differences.

Here's a benchmark of the MacBook Pro aginst the Acer Travelmate 8200. Both laptops feature an Intel Core Duo (T2500) processor and an ATI Mobility Radeon x1600 graphics card.

(Note that the HP Pavilion dv1000t included in the benchmarks does not have a discreet graphics card)

There's barely any difference between the two laptops. However, it is surprising that the Mac is slightly faster on Photoshop CS, which it has traditionally been very slow at.

It's really difficult to compare processors of completely different brands. Search around for some benchmarks somewhere.

it depends on your system configuration, what other than processor you have with your hardware, like motheboard, hard-drive etc. but as per me it is sure faster. Regards.

dual core just lets you do more at one time, speed depends on ram.
