Ummmmmm it depends on where you are driving from???? See there is North, South, East, and West and each direction there will be different things to see. For example if you're driving from Phoenix, Az. you could see the Grand Canyon, but you won't see that if you're driving from Oregon..See how that works?

It depends on from which direction you are coming, but the Grand Canyon is just a few miles outside of Las Vegas to the Southeast. Lake Mead is also close by and a great recreation spot.

Just so you're clear the Grand Canyon is certainly more than just a few miles outside of Las Vegas. It is certainly an excellent side trip, but don't think you can swing by before lunch.

generally speaking - the desert. so, sand, cacti, et cetera.

actually, nearby sights include the grand canyon, lake mead, the hoover dam, and the desert. it really depends on which way you're going. i-15 would probably be the best way to go. just follow the signs to interesting things
