The "Ten Commandments" concept is a presentation to the general public, with an un-known audience, perpetual, 24 hours a day.
The "swearing on the Bible" is within a point of time, performed before a private audience, procedural, and a ritual.
But I'm still for posting of the Ten Commandments as a valid expression of our history.

You don't have to swear on the bible.
You can raise your right hand and affirm to tell the truth.
MikeK60, if you want to post something as a representation of American history, why not get the decapitated head of Native American's or hang some blacks and natives and those that sympathized with them in front of the court house on a rope.
Of course we can't forget the Orientals. Maybe we can get them to pose in front of the courts with their beaten backs exposed while they build a railroad. Or we can even get a mini internment camp out front of the court house.
That is American history NOT the ten commandments.

No. Did you miss some History in school? Study the reason why we came to America in the first place, it was to end Church and State. The Constitution, did you miss that as well. You may want the ten Commandments posted in every Government building and public place, I don't.
I go to my Church and I pray to my GOD and I live by the ten Commandments in my life each day.
If Bu$h is a Godly man then why is it he lies with every word from his mouth? Why is it he has caused the death of 300,000 civilians in Iraq and 2489 brave Americans? We have over 15,000 service men wounded by the Godly man in the White house who "lives" by "love thy neighbor as thy self".
"Neither a borrower or a lender" we have more debt now than any time in History and the war in Iraq will cost working class Tax payers $2 trillion over the next ten years. Bu$h gives the wealthy more tax cuts and makes more debt. These are not the deeds of a GODLY man.

This country was founded by people who were attempting to escape religious and other forms of persecution. Therefore they made our bill of rights and our constitution to cover all of the things they thought were unfair in the countries that they came from. One of these is separation of church and state, the court is state, the Ten Commandments are religion, ergo no plaques. I think that the christian right has gotten out of hand. Our country was not founded under God, as they claim, but by fallible men. And God comes in many forms to different people. As Jesus said, in my Fathers house there are many mansions, and this country was set up with the idea that you should worship your own God, the state will help with the rest.

Ask the ACLU. Being "politically correct" is starting to get a little over used.
