A few weeks ago my pee started smelling really weird. No longer like urine, more like.. err.. fish. I want to know why this is happening. I'm 20yr old female - healthy I think. I didn't change my diet or lifestyle, though I am on birth control pills (and have been for over a year). Also, I can't have a sexually transmitted disease for I do not have unprotected sex. I have no idea what else can cause my pee to smell like this.

Thank you.. I'm not into doctors, but it seems like you all think this is possibly serious.

Btw, can't be dehydration - I drink lots. Also clean myself well with soapless body wash and take vitamin supplements.. hello health freak =)

see your doctor! might be a urine infection and see the instructions on your birth control pills and see if that is a side effect. but the best bet is to see your doctor!

I think Kelse is RIGHT!

Antibiotics can cause problems for women.... a close friend at work had a problem some months back, and she was off work for about a week.... Not only she could smell it!!!!!!!..... It was diagnosed (and very sensatively via a female Doctor, 'assisting' her regular (Male) ).... And treatment solved the problem in about 5 days!

I do agree, drink a good healthy intake of water each day!...Especially if you are in the Hot Temps, like UK at the moment!!!

Does it hurt or burn when you pee? Do you have any pelvic pain? You may have a urinary tract infection caused by accidently wiping yourself the wrong way after a bowel movement. Most UTIs are caused by e-coli. See your GP. It is easily treated by anti biotics, and is not an STD. Along with cistitis, very common.

Meanwhile, drink lots of water.

Are you taking antibotics? If you are some kinds can make you have a yeast infection which can cause things to not smell that good.

A bladder infection. Or possibly thrush. Maybe blackbirds.

Go get it checked. Seriously.

it sounds like you have a urine infection, you need to go to your doctor and get some prescription and to help prevent it happening again, clean yourself regularly day and night.

See your doctor pronto. It could be a urinary tract infection or a kidney infection (you need prescription antibiotics to get rid of this).

if you've been eating asparagus this is the cause (seriously). otherwise you may simply be getting dehydrated. if neither, then best to see a doctor.
