Most people are goal driven. What you need to do is set measurable goals for yourself with a clear reward system in place. As physical exercise can be as important as mental exercise, try rewarding with say 15 minutes of hard exercise for every thirty of study time. You may only get 4 hours a day of study this way, but I suspect those minutes will be more productive. The other thing to do is set up different different study environments. Take your book to the beach or a coffee shop. The idea is to creatively beat back the boredom and give your mind a chance to process the new information. James Watson, (DNA Nobel prize winner) spent half his research time on the tennis courts.

I do the following:
Take a shower if I'm swamped
Drink water or eat fruit
Go for a run everyday
Walk around every hour or two.
Sleep when I get exhausted at night.
Try not to during the day.
Don't overdo it heh..
It's not just willpower, it's disciplining yourself,
or making your environment conducive to studying well
and nobody teaches you how for the most part.
That is : "how to study"

Could you do your studying with another person? It might be more motivating and even a bit of fun. Take short breaks throughout the day to help. Last question, are you studying the thing you're interested in? That helps!

To learn is to live.
To gain the next level of experience.
To attain the next skill.
This is what you are striving for. To gain the next level, greater experience, better armor and sword.
OK, so forget the "better armor and sword part", but you get the point.
You have to do this to get to where you want to be next. You cannot accomplish that without mastering what you are studying.
You study to pass the test your current master is giving you, then you get passed on to the next one. You eventually get to the point you are a master yourself.
"There is no try, do, or do not." -Yoda
Yeah, it is all trite, but it is what it is about. You want the next challenge, you damned well have to pass this one.
Life. Live it as best you can.

You need to write down your goals on a piece of paper and visualize yourself achieving your desired goals. That should do the trick!
