You said it happens when you do anything, not just one specific application? Then that could be just about anything.... let's try to narrow it down. Have you made any recent hardware changes to the computer (have you added memory, upgraded a hard drive, put in a new graphics card, new motherboard, processor... anything).
It could also be software, what was the last thing you installed. Did this just start happening or was it happening before. And, it may be a virus, so you might want to run a scan for that. But my bet is on hardware, post back about anything you might have changed. Bad hardware is most likely to cause this to happen but if you haven't changed anything... we'll see. Just let (us) know.
Some are saying the CPU overheating, yeah, when was the last time you heard of a Celeron overheating? I don't think so (unless the fan has failed). It can still be just about anything installed in the system right down to the motherboard. Try removing various components and see if it still happens, when it stops happening, you have identified the offending component. It's also entirely possible that it is the motherboard itself that has gone bad and as someone said, it can even be a bad power supply. Was the computer left operating during a storm at any point and if it was, was it plugged into a surge protector or not?

I've had a similar problem, and it is probably a virus, though i used many various types of anti virus, nothing worked. Eventually the only course of action that worked was to perform a 'system recovery' from the load screen of the PC.
When and if you do, ensure that you save any programs or files that you need on to an external hard-drive (like an ipod), this very useful procedure will wipe out everything, virus included.

your cpu is likely overheating. when the processor gets too hot, the computer shuts down as a safety mechanism to prevent damage. the cpu is likely overheating because of dust. heat can't escape as effectively. you should buy a can of compressed air and blow out the heatsink and fan above the processor. if that doesn't work, go buy some arctic silver thermal compound and put a dab of that over the cpu. you can find instructions on how to do that with a simple search on google.
if it is the cpu like i think it is, it's really not that big of a deal. you can fix it with a $5 can of air.

Sounds like you have a virus. You need some anti-virus protection.
Try McAfee or Symantic.
I know McAfee offers a free online scan. If it finds anything, it will prompt you to buy the software.
You might also wanna get Windows Defender from the microsoft download site.

Please state what kind of computer you have,
what browser you are using,
and the amount of memory you have.
If you know the age of your computer, that would help, and the size of your hard-drive.
Lastly, your processer speed.
That's enough for us to get started,
though right off the bat, I would tend to think you might be experiencing a java problem?
