I know many women who work in scientific fields (including astronomy) who also have families.
Women who choose to pursue their education in order to work in a field that they enjoy do NOT have to choose between work and family. For example, I have a good friend who holds a PhD in astronomy, teaches at the university level, has been married for over 20 years, and has successfully raised 3 wonderful children. All of her children are now attending university themselves.
Being an astronomer, or a university professor, or working in any highly demanding field requires dedication and energy, but the overwhelming majority of women I know have been able to balance their careers and their families quite well.
(It is, however, essential to have a supportive spouse!)

Any time anyone works and has children, the work and the time needed to raise kids competes.
The question is: do you want to be a scientist first or a mother raising effective and happy children first? It is almost impossible to do both well, so you have to choose. Sometimes the father stays home, but someone has to be there, first, for the children.
Decide what you want; if it's kids and a family, it may be possible to get a degree as an astronomer, teach for a while, then when the kids are grown, go back and do more research.
